About this deal

so, nice to look at and inspire, but you will need additional resources to find and navigate your way to the bothys. This book is everything the bothy lover could want or need, beautifully produced and enormously practical.

What I really like is the author gives honest accounts of the places, if one is a bit run down, you know about it before you go so you’re not expecting 5* luxury at the end of your walk. Even for the armchair enthusiast, the book is so well organized and presented (with excellent maps and indexes, too) that just by reading it you feel you are learning more about the real Scotland. Hiding away in one is my mental fantasy on a tough work day, so I love thumbing thru this book for inspiration and smiles. Trained as a surveyor, he is a professional photographer and joint maintenance office for an MBA bothy on the Isle of Rum .Geoff Allan is Scotland’s premier bothy expert: founder of the ‘Bothies on a Bike’ blog he has hiked, biked and slept the night in each and every Scottish bothy. Engaging travel writing documents the captivating history of each bothy and the adventurers who use them. to know there is a bothy in the middle of Knoydart is interesting, but i would have liked pinpoint maps showing paths and approaches etc, rather than just a grid ref.

Trained as a surveyor, he is a professional photographer and maintenance officer for an MBA bothy on the Isle of Rum. The best bothies for Munros, beaches, seclusion, families and beginners, wildlife, romantic hideaways, wild and remote and stunning scenery. This detailed and beautifully photographed publishing guides you on a wild adventure through Scotland's landscapes to discover a network of bothy cabins and mountain huts that remain free to stay in.Great little coffee table book, but also if you're a serious hiker this is truly AMAZING because it gives exact descriptions and coordinates of how to reach these neat little houses. This wonderful book is an ideal fireside companion to inspire and inform your future trips to Scotland’s beautiful remote areas.
